Description of what we did: On a poster we explained the steps of Rhodopsin and how it functions. We drew DNA and showed how mRNA attaches to the ribosome. We did many attaches and detaches and described what transcription and translation are and how it works. While presenting we added and took away pieces from the DNA like a puzzle piece.
Concepts: Transcription: found in nucleus, polymerase unzips DNA, pre RNA comes in and recieves code, pre RNA becomes mRNA and goes to cytoplasm Translation: in cytoplasm on a ribosome in the rough ER DNA:the fundamental and distinctive characteristics or qualities of someone or something, especially when regarded as unchangeable Ribosome:a minute particle consisting of RNA and associated proteins, found in large numbers in the cytoplasm of living cells
Reflection: This project was very interesting and I learned a lot about the process of transcription and translation. The first peak was that when I presented a part of the project I talked with confidence and explained very clearly. The second peak was that I worked well with my group and we communicated very well throughout the project. The first pit was that I didn't take a strong leadership role instead I just did stuff that my group told me to do. The second pit was that I sometimes got off task and went on my phone. It was hard to stay on task when I was getting easily distracted. I will work hard to strenghten my leadership skills and my phone should not be a distraction anymore with the phone rack.
